27 Nov 2018 MG (ret.) Patricia Frost delivered the keynote remarks to the annual Global Mining and Metals Information Sharing and Analysis Center Conference at the Kennedy Space Center on 27 November 2019. Her speech was entitled “From the Trenches to the Desktop” and highlighted the evolution of cyber throughout the 20th and 21st centuries, and the importance of cybersecurity today. The conference commenced on 26 November with a Global Cyber Incident Response Exercise. This exercise was conducted in collaboration with the US Department of Homeland Security and Public Safety Canada, which established, tested and refined best practices for individual and coordinated incident response. Following the exercise, the main conference on 27 November provided the opportunity for mining, metals and related industry peers to meet in a collaborative event to discuss current cybersecurity challenges facing the industry.
